De Griso werd als prototype voorgesteld op de salon in Milan 2002, toen werd niet verwacht dat Moto Guzzi daar een productiemodel van zou maken, echter vrijwel ongewijzigd komt ie september 2005 in productie.
De Griso heeft technisch veel overeenkomsten met de Breva 1100
